In Matthew 7:1–6, Jesus does not call us to moral indifference or silence. Instead, he warns us against the danger of our critical hearts which condemn. Only when our spiritual blindness is addressed by Jesus can we turn from criticism to care, loving instead of judging.
Jesus’ words “Judge Not” are often used in a culture that refuses judgment of any kind. But in Matthew 7:1–6, Jesus does not call us to moral indifference or silence. Instead, he warns us against the danger of our critical hearts which condemn. Jesus reveals how it’s easy to point out sin in someone else’s life and easy to ignore the much greater sin in our own. Only when our spiritual blindness is addressed by Jesus can we turn from criticism to care, loving instead of judging.
