Beloved, Sojourners, Exiles
Christians have a complicated relationship with the world. They live in it, but they do not belong to it. How, then, should Christians live out their faith in a world that is not Christian? They can do so only by first remembering who God is and what He has done. Peter declares that Christians are God's beloved people who have experienced a change of status—they have become citizens of heaven. No longer belonging to this world, Christians treasure their true home and heavenly inheritance as they persevere until Christ's return.
